Scrap Box Sunday: Spring Art

OK, I planned to do this with my scrap paper, but I only just bought this card stock stack and I'm in love with it! Soooo, I used it instead. You can make this with your scraps ;)

What you need:

  • Scrap card stock in 3 coordinating colours/patterns
  • Additional card stock and/or paper for the background
  • A photo frame (I got two for $5 at Big W, whoot!)
  • Foam photo mount square stickers (or whatever it is they're called!)
  • Glue
  • Scissors

You could also cut your butterflies/shapes with a punch
or blade.

What to do:

Cut out six butterfly shapes, two each from each of your three colours of card stock scrap. I wanted all six of mine to look different, so I cut out a rectangle of card stock, folded it in half ...

... and free-hand cut a butterfly shape out.
You could use a template if you wanted 6 identical butterflies.

Choose a background for your butterflies. I chose a coordinating card stock background from my stack, then to make sure the butterflies stood out, I used a white perforated scrapbook paper to overlay it.

Put aside the glass from the frame (I'm sure you can do something useful with this later ;)). Cut your background to fit inside your frame and stick it in.

Now we're ready to add our butterflies. Add a couple of foam squares to the back of each butterfly and pop them onto the background paper.

Bend up the wings on each to give it a bit of dimension, like so:

If you want it to be extra sturdy, pop some glue onto the foam and then add the butterfly, like so:

Embellish however you see fit! I added a ribbon bow to one corner, and used glue to add seed and bugle beads to the centres of the bow and each butterfly.

To give you a bit of a better idea:

Let it dry and you're done! What a clever cookie!

Wish I had a better camera..!
