Scrap Box Sunday: Felt Bunny

I don't usually decorate for any of the holidays because we're generally not home for them! But I decided to get into the spirit a little tiny bit ;) So, here's how I made my cute little felt bunny!

What you need:
* Brown felt
* Embroidery thread (I used blue and cream)
* Stuffing (I used old cushion stuffing this time!)
* Fabric pencil
* Scissors
* Needle
* Optional: Embellishments - I used some little silk flowers and silver cord.

What to do:

Cut two equally sized rectangles of brown felt and draw a rabbit outline onto one using a fabric pen.

Cut out your rabbit, then trace the same shape onto the second piece of felt and cut that out too!

Now we're going to sew the two rabbits together. Take your cream embroidery thread and thread a needle with it. Tie a knot in the end.

I started my stitching at the back of the rabbit's neck, as that's a easy place to cover up with ribbon later if you need to :) Start stitching so that your knot is in the middle of the two rabbit pieces and will be hidden when you're done.

Blanket stitch around the edges. Stitch School has a good explanation of how to do this :)

Leave a gap in your stitching so you can stuff your bunny. Next time I would actually stitch around the ears too, and just leave the back of the head open.

Lightly fill your rabbit with stuffing and then complete your stitching, tying it off at the back of the neck.

Next I used blue embroidery thread to make knot eyes. Stitch School also has a French knot explanation :)

Now you're pretty much done! Embellish however you like! I tied a silver cord around my bunny's neck and stuffed my silk flowers in the back of the cord.

Aww, a sweet chocolate bunny for decorating!

Add a brooch back or a hair pin and it could be an Eastery accessory!

Pretty cute, huh?
